All Pakistan Trade Union Congress (APTUC) is the National
confederation of workers and is completely independent of the
government or any political group. APTUC can be proud of its broad
grassroot support, spread throughout the country. More than eight
sectors are associated with APTUC such as mixed industries,
transport, employees in public service, white-collar workers,
education, working women, health care, agriculture, textile and
garment. APTUC unions uphold the rights of employees in matters
concerning their collective labour agreements, social dialogue,
decent work, social security and pension.
APTUC takes these interests on board and is active in
promoting better work opportunities, decent working conditions,
worker participation, social security, supportive environment,
through seminars, education and training workshops. APTUC works for
the renewal and betterment of society, for all people to share in
prosperity and well being, to live in freedom and on the basis of
equality. That is not only the case within the national borders;
APTUC is also active internationally. Human rights, the right to
form unions, sustainable development, international cooperation,
globalization and social development are familiar themes forming
important elements of APTUC policy.
This scope makes APTUC a broad movement
which, next to the protection of collective and individual
interests, strives for the renewal of society and emancipation.
APTUC is not just concerned with members' short-term interests. It
is their quality of life and work, which dominates the APTUC
approach.
