PREVENTION EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
The Society initiates and implements a wide range of educational programs including seminars, workshops , walks, demonstration, lectures sessions, streets shows , and pamphlet distribution that are directed towards specific groups or communities in order to provide accurate information about HIV/AIDS . PAPS also provides cultural sensitive outreach and education services to specific clients and groups who are indulged in high risk activities , or involved in issues relating to gender, nationality, ethnicity, physical abilities or sexual orientation.
TESTING AND COUNSELING SERVICES
PAPS facilitates confidential HIV antibody testing and provides pre-and post-testing counseling services . PAPS also makes special arrangements for confidential testing of clients at homes in special circumstances.
RESOURCES CENTER
The Resource Center of PAPS has an exclusive collection of books and other reading material, and videos on HIV/AIDS . Educational materials in different languages/dialects are available for distribution . Videos, brochures and electronic equipment for use on educational programs can be borrowed. PAPS acts as a resource to other organization and groups in the areas of programs development ,resource generation and allocation ; and provision of technical information on HIV/AIDS.
POSITIVE PERSON SUPPORT PROGRAM
PAPS support not only the people living with HIV/AIDS but also their families, friends and people/ and organizations working on issues related to HIV/AIDS . Information is also provided concerning HIV infection and AIDS which aims at eliminating discrimination against persons with HIV/AIDS . PAPS campaigns for respect for basic human rights and for the human rights of PWHAs.
TRAINING OF TRAINERS/VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
As a voluntary organization itself , PAPS strives to provide positive experiences for those working in AIDS prevention with a goal of developing a well-trained cadre of Pakistani people able to respond to HIV/AIDS now and in the future.
PAPS has contributed to health debate on HIV/AIDS and the need for appropriate intervention by community organizations and for the defined role of NGOs in the National AIDS control strategy.
