Central Organization of Teachers (COT) is a Federation of Teachers union of organising teachers - irrespective of race, creed, or gender - nationally throughout Pakistan. The Federation believes that teaching - more than any other profession influences who we are and also influences the societies we live in. The Federation believes that taking up the aims to balance the professional and trade union aspects of members lives is in the long term interests of members and society at large. It ranks amongst the largest Federation unions affiliated to the All Pakistan Trade Union Congress (APTUC); and is also a member of Education International (EI) at International level.

Central Organization of Teachers (COT) was launched in Karachi in 1983. This was an historic occasion as it brought together a range of divided teacher organisations into a unitary structure with a progressive vision.

Central Organization of Teachers (COT) is the oldest trade federation of APTUC, a specialized and apex body for teacher’s organizations working in different parts of the country. The Head Office of COT is situated at Karachi. Different organizations of elementary, primary, secondary school, vocational Institutions, Association of subject teachers is working together under the banner of Central Organization of Teachers. Internationally COT is affiliated with Education International (EI).

Central Organization of Teachers is a specialized federation and more than 28 teachers organizations are its member. It is completely independent of the government or any political group, and is open for teacher organization to join. The COT can be proud of broad grassroots support of teacher organization spreaded throughout Pakistan like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad Khairpur etc.

Nature of activities under taken Training, Research and study program for members and affiliated association of teachers. Solidarity action was also having significant importance for the teaching community in Pakistan due to non-supportive laws and difficulties of recognition of Teacher bodies.
